The 9th European GIM Conference: Music, Imagery and Psychotherapy

     The 9th European Guided Imagery and Music Conference was held in the Villa de Laguardia Hotel, Spain from  13th to 16th September 2010. There were over 80 participants who came from different European countries including Austria, Bulgaria, Denmark, England, Finland, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Italia, Norway, Spain, and Sweden. Apart from these countries, some participants came all the way from South Africa, United States, Australia, Korea and Hong Kong . 

     The conference was substantial in content including 4 keynote speeches, 2 roundtables, 16 papers, 12 workshops and 3 poster presentations. I was very proud to be a representative for the Chinese region. I facilitated a workshop 'The Exploration of Chinese Music in a GIM Music Program "Harvest"' in the conference. The participants were very interested in the Chinese music and the Chinese GIM music program. Some people, who did not join the workshop but they heard about the positive feedback from the participants, also asked me to collect the music CD and description after the workshop. At the end, over 30 CDs were distributed. 

     I made a lot of friends and experts in the conference. Although some of the participants could not speak English very well, we had a very sincere communication with full of appreciation and encouragement. In brief, it was a successful conference in terms of accommodation, arrangement, atmosphere, contents and professional standard. I am really looking forward to the next European GIM conference in 2012 at Sweden.
